Q. When will I receive my plants?
A. I only post Monday to Wednesday to avoid plants sitting in a warehouse over the weekend. I will send you an email when your parcel is on the way with a link to the tracking. If you would like me to dispatch on a specific day please contact me and I'll do my best to accommodate you.
Q. Why is postage to Northern Ireland more expensive?
A. Unfortunately, due to changes to plant movement between GB and NI after Brexit, I cannot use Royal Mail for sending plants to NI. Other couriers are much more expensive. I will keep checking for the best price. If you have any questions about this, don't hesitate to contact me.
Q. Why don't you offer free delivery on all orders?
Q. How do you work out your delivery charge?
A. My P&P costs are slightly higher than the face value of the Royal Mail or UPS cost. This is a contribution to the cost of packing materials: boxes, tape, moss, pots, floof, thermal wrap, bubble wrap, paper, heat pack… I decided not to offer free postage on all orders as that would increase plant prices overall. By asking you to pay some of the cost of shipping a smaller order I can keep the price of plants lower for everyone.
Q. Do you include a heat pack?
A. Yes, when needed I will include a free heat pack.

Q. What substrate is my plant potted in?
A. Most of my seeds and seedlings will be potted in milled moss and perlite (you can read more about that substrate on this blog post). Propagations or larger plants may be potted in a tree fern mix. Some of my established plants have been growing in semi hydro. To avoid damaging the roots, I will remove from the substrate and send wrapped in moss.

I advise you not to repot your plant for a week or two so as not to stress the plant further after its journey.
Q. Is your packaging recyclable?
A. I've worked hard to make my packaging as sustainable as possible. All paper products are recyclable including the tape and stickers. Marketing materials are made from recycled paper. I am moving to plastic products which are made from plants (perfect for us, right?). These products can be industrially composted. Even if that is not yet available in your area, the production of this plastic is much less wasteful than usual plastic products which come from petrochemicals. If you're interested you can read more about the plant-based plastic I use by following this link. You can identify plant-based plastic by the 'VegWare' stamp on the lid or base of the pot.

The 6cm pots that a lot of my seedlings are potted in, and that I sell separately, are not plant-based plastic. They are sturdy pots and hopefully you can reuse them to get the most life out of them before recycling. Follow this link to find out where they can be recycled in your area.

The floof I use to protect Anthurium's delicate leaves is unfortunately not recyclable. I will reuse it wherever possible and I am looking for a suitable, vegan alternative at a price that won't put up prices. If you know of anything that might be suitable please get in touch to let me know - I'd be very grateful!
Q. I can see something crawling on a plant I've just received. Should I be worried?
A. I use predatory mites on my plants to prevent and treat pest outbreaks. The general rule of thumb when identifying a bug is: if it’s running fast, it’s a friend; if it’s slow, it’s a foe. If you’re at all concerned don’t hesitate to contact me.
Q. My plant hasn't travelled well or has gone downhill since I received it. Help!
A. Some Anthurium can be divas; they get set in their ways and object to being moved. A little yellowing of the oldest leaf isn't too much to worry about and once settled you should see new growth to replace it. Likewise, the odd scratch or fold won't be detrimental to the plant's health. I'd advise you to keep all new tropical plants in higher humidity and keep them warm with indirect light to allow them to settle. If you are worried I'm more than happy to advise you so please contact me.
Q. Do you offer refunds?
A. I want you to be delighted with your order. I offer refunds if a plant is seriously damaged or if you've changed your mind and can send the plant back to me in the condition you received it. Please click this link for full details. Contact me as soon as possible and I will do my best to resolve your issue.

Q. Can I select my own plant?
A. Absolutely! The only plants I offer as grower's choice (where I choose which to send) will be germinated seeds and very small seedlings where only the first leaf or two is popping. When I do, I will choose the biggest and the healthiest first. For all other plants, you can select your own on the product page.
Q. Why are some plants more expensive when they have the same ID?
A. Sometimes this may be due to a size difference for a propagation or established plant. And sometimes a seedling will display a more desirable trait (e.g. a wide sinus or a particularly colourful leaf). Where I think a seedling shows real promise I may offer it as a 'select' seedling and charge a little more. Please be aware that although traits will often carry as the seedling matures, there's no guarantee that they will.
Q. Do you use filters on your product photos?
A. Absolutely not! Some features (notably reddish colours) don't show up well on my camera but I do my best to show the true picture of the plant you're buying. If you'd like to see more photos I'm more than happy to send them. Sometimes I will use my Instagram photos to show mother plants and there I do usually use a filter at about 30-40%. That makes the image more crisp but doesn't do much to change the inherent look of the plant.
Q. How often will new stock be released?
A. I will do periodic drops and alert you via the newsletter, a banner on the website and via social media. If you haven't already, you can create an account for a quick checkout and to be alerted for all stock drops (make sure you've agreed to receive marketing materials).
Q. I missed a plant and now it's out of stock. Will you have more?
A. You can sign up to be alerted when an out of stock plant is relisted. I won't always be able to restock items but sometimes I release in batches or I have holdbacks which I may sell later. Even if I don't, being able to see the number of people who are interested in an out of stock plant gives me an idea of which plants are still in demand. I can then try to recreate a hybrid or buy more.
Q. Why can I only buy germinated seeds in pairs and not singles?
A. I’ve learned never to buy single seeds as not all seeds will grow to be a strong and healthy plant. Of course, I’ll do all I can to weed out weak seeds and will sell only the ones I deem to be healthy. But even so there is uncertainty, especially with hybrids. I’ve decided to only sell in pairs so you have a better chance of growing at least one strong and healthy plant. And part of the appeal (for me at least) of growing Anthurium from seed is their variability; you get to compare the seedlings as they grow.

I will keep reviewing this so do let me know your thoughts.
Q. You don't have my dream wish list plant. Can you source it for me?
A. I will absolutely do my best! Please contact me and I'll be happy to chat about what you're looking for.
