- Description
I'm a bit of a sucker for weird and wonderful hybrids and I think this qualifies. Villenaorum is tentatively placed in the cardiolonchium section (alongside forgetii, magnificum, papillilaminum etc.). Veitchii is in the calomystrium section, making this an intersectional hybrid. I've seen a few veitchii crosses with plants like papillilaminum and forgetii but never with villenaorum. I bought 4 seeds and 2 were very runty so I have 2 good plants. They're very similar and you can clearly see both parents in the leaves (the abs of the veitchii and the white veins of the villenaorum) which is always reassuring. So far they're both showing quite round leaves and I usually find that Anthurium get more round as they mature but I wonder if the veitchii will show itself more in the shape as well as the abs as they grow...
- Growing conditions
The seedlings are currently in a propagation tent which sits around 20-24 ºC with humidity around 90% RH. Click here to read my blog on how I grow from seed. The parent plants grow well in household conditions and I would expect the seedlings to be easily acclimatised to lower humidity once they've grown a little.
- Quality assurance
All plants come with a plant passport or Northern Ireland Plant Health Label. Where necessary plants have been acclimatised after import for at least a month and only listed when they have new growth.
