I don't see Ace of Purple hybrids much in the UK yet but I love the hybrids that Connor from Burgal House Horticulture has made with them. These are all showing some lovely colours but with some variation between them which I always think is interesting to see. Then you can compare them with the siblings and try to get some more clues about the plants that went into making the parents (shown in the last photo). It's one big plant genetics detective game.
I'm letting one more of my holdbacks go but let me tell you, it's hard. These leaves are getting deliciously dark with such an electric emergent colour. This is an awesome cross. This is in a 7cm tower but ready for an up-pot.
- Growing conditions
The plants are currently in a propagation tent which sits around 20-24 ºC with humidity around 90% RH. Click here to read my blog on how I grow from seed. The parent plants generally appreciate higher humidity so the seedlings may too. You should still be able to acclimatise down to household conditions once it's established. But be aware it may give you some funky leaves as it gets used to its new conditions.
- Quality assurance
All plants come with a plant passport or Northern Ireland Plant Health Label. Where necessary plants have been acclimatised after import for at least a month and only listed when they have new growth.
